Independent Training and Apprenticeship Program (I-TAP) is a merit shop (non-union) training program. I-TAP is training skilled employees for an exciting and well-paid future. Our unique training experience will help you gain life-long trade skills that will give you a competitive advantage in the job market. The mission of I-TAP is to provide the construction industry with a reliable training program that incorporates on-the-job training with classroom instruction, to meet the industry’s increasing need for qualified journey-level craftpersons.

I-TAP is the complete educational experience. I-TAP offers a federally approved apprenticeship program program. Because we believe that an education is never complete, I-TAP also offers continuing education classes for journeyperson, foreperson, management, and owner training. These include classes and seminars on code, journeyperson certification preparation, safety, project management, estimating, labor law, workmen’s compensation, insurance and investment.

I-TAP is a multi-discipline program. Currently, I-TAP features apprenticeship programs in Commercial Electrical, Residential Electrical, and Sound and Communication System Installation (SCSI). All of the apprenticeship programs combine interactive classroom instruction with on-the-job training. Students attend day-time classes for two weeks per semester. Classes combine lecture, lab and independent study time to ensure a well-balanced and thorough education.
